DEI at Notre Dame High School

Our DEI Commitment

As members of the Notre Dame family, we are committed to fostering an oppression-free environment that actively addresses, embraces, respects, and supports diverse perspectives and experiences. These include race, ethnicity, gender, class, sexuality, religion, nationality, culture, and ability. We believe that all of our students, families, and community members are created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27) with equal worth and inherent rights to a dignified life. We acknowledge “that networks of privilege, prejudice, and power [are] so commonplace that often neither oppressors nor victims are aware of them” (Holy Cross Constitution 2:14). Aligned with these beliefs, principles, and practices of our Holy Cross tradition, we actively denounce anti-black racism, bigotry, oppression, and racism in all its forms.

We commit to continuing an action-oriented pursuit to understand better, address, and dismantle racist ideologies, attitudes, policies, stereotypes, micro-aggressions, violent acts, and unjust practices in our school and community. We commit to continuing to develop anti-racist practices and to engage in the process of self-reflection to identify and address systemic racism and all other forms of oppression that exist. “To this end, we shall avoid no sacrifice” (Fr. Basil Moreau).

If you feel that Notre Dame High School, or any of its constituents, is not upholding this commitment, please email Dr. Kelly Jackson, Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at jackson@ndhs.org
