Volunteer Appreciation

Our Notre Dame volunteer committees spent countless hours supporting many activities throughout the school year. These parent volunteers are important to furthering the school's Holy Cross mission - all parents are invited to participate.

At the end of each year, special recognition is acknowledged with the Christy Hamilton Outstanding Volunteer Award and the Moreau Award for Spiritual Service.

Christy Hamilton Outstanding Service Award

Named in memory of Christy Hamilton, a mother of three Notre Dame High School graduates.  Christy Hamilton lost her life in the line of duty while serving as a police officer for the City of Los Angeles.  As a parent, she dedicated her time and energy to the enrichment and advancement of Notre Dame High School.

This award is presented annually to graduating parents who have dedicated their time and energy for the enrichment and advancement of Notre Dame High School.

Moreau Award for Spiritual Service

Holy Cross founder, Blessed Father Basil Moreau, was devoted to the spiritual development of students and inspired the Holy Cross mission to cultivate both hearts and minds.  In the publication, Christian Education, Moreau stated:

"Education is the art of helping young people to completeness."

He also famously stated:

"We do not want our students to be ignorant of anything they should know.  To this end, we shall avoid no sacrifice... The mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart.  While we prepare useful citizens for society, we shall likewise do our utmost to prepare citizens for eternal life."

This award is presented annually to graduating parents who have made significant volunteer contributions to the spiritual growth of students at Notre Dame High School.
